Deadpool celebrates his first two movies being made available on Hulu by taking over some of the streaming services most popular original content. There will be questions as to whether the Disney/Fox deal constitutes a monopoly and, at least on the theatrical side, having a summer dominated by Disney flicks and Fox's Deadpool 2 isn't going to help matters. This is a winning trailer for what should be one of the bigger movies of the summer.

It's no secret that I felt the first Deadpool got dragged down by its origin story tropes, so the hope is that this one goes "full Deadpool." The film seems, on the surface, succeeding at giving us bigger action spectacle and grander villains (like Josh Brolin's Cable) without sacrificing the self-aware meta-commentary that made the first film so popular. In Wolverine Ryan Reynolds plays Wade Wilson very true to the character: every member of the team is pissed off by him.To my pleasant surprise, I laughed out loud at several of the jokes, including a cheap but amusing dig at the DC Universe and the conversation about whether luck is a superpower ( The Flash says "Yes!"). The Wolverine movie directed by Gavin Hood is setting the origins of Deadpool, taking some creative licenses with the original Deadpool/Wade Wilson from the comic books: The crazy mercenary is maybe a villain, but he isn't evil, he is just cynical and crazy, an explosive combination that makes him so marvelously interesting. Because Marvel's got an impressive movie line-up scheduled till 2012 which will be crowned by the Avengers movie.ĭeadpool deserves his own spin-off live-action movie. But if Marvel is indeed in command then I doubt the movie will get released before 2013.
So there is hope for a faithful adaptation. I believe Fox does not own the rights to Deadpool. The word is that Marvel is definitely thinking about it. Deadpool introduced in the movie Wolverine is very likely to get his own movie in a not-so-distant future. The positive buzz around all things Marvel recently is a strong incentive for developing new spin-offs movies based on the Marvel universe.
